Hardware and Software Needed

What kind of computer hardware/software do I need to take an online course?

Our online courses are delivered via the World Wide Web, using Blackboard, an online course delivery software package. In order to access this online course, there are a few minimum technology requirements that you will need to meet in order to participate fully.

    Browsers supported by Blackboard 6.1

    Caution:

Internet-only devices may not be appropriate for use in online courses. Most courses require that you be able to send your assignments as email attachments to your professor. These devices often cannot do this.

Many courses also require that you have access to a word processing package, such as MS Word or another product compatible with it; a spreadsheet, such as MS Excel; and/or a database, such as MS Access.

Other courses may have additional requirements, such as computer courses (which may require that you have access to specialized software, such as programming languages) or mathematics courses (which may require calculators).

    Note:

In addition, some specific courses may require the use of a fax machine or special software. Please check your instructors web page or the bookstore e-follet for more information.
