Virtual Visiting Scholar Recommendation
Guidelines
For consideration, your Virtual Visiting Scholar request should:
-
Identify a scholar that possesses a doctorate degree or foreign equivalent, holds a faculty tenure-track position or has substantial professional recognition in their field.
-
Identify an individual that will expand the quality of our College programs and course content which otherwise would be inaccessible due to geographic limitations and institutional resources for travel.
- Identify a scholar whose presentation will directly relate to program and/or course student learning outcomes as well as relevant College strategic goals.
Program Description and Requested Information:
- Scholar’s credentials, location, proficiency in English language skills for the presentation, their access to an Internet2 network, and focus of virtual class session.
- How the session relates to the college strategic issues, academic program and course learning outcomes as well as expansion of students’ cultural and world experience.
- Identification of course(s), course readings, activities, and discussions that will supplement the scholar’s area of expertise and virtual class session.
- Identification of evaluation tool utilized to assess student learning outcomes in relation to the virtual scholar session.
- Cost as to not exceed $1,000 for a 90 minute presentation via Internet2. The visiting scholar’s 90 minute presentation will be delivered in the identified college classroom(s) that provide Internet2 access and supporting technology equipment.
- Preference will be given to Virtual Visiting Scholar proposals that integrate the scholar’s area of expertise and presentation focus into other courses across the curriculum as well as college wide impact. Thus joint faculty proposals for more than one course will be strongly encouraged. Also preference for e-Learning courses will be taken into account.
- Lastly, presenters and programs of interest being offered by MAGPI will be strongly encouraged and given priority support. See http://www.magpi.net/programs for currently offered programs and MAGPI history.
