Sigma Phi Alpha is the national honor society of the dental hygiene profession. Montgomery County Community College’s chapter of Sigma Phi Alpha is Beta Zeta Chapter.
The purpose of Sigma Phi Alpha is to promote, recognize and honor scholarship, leadership, and service among dental hygiene students and graduates of dental hygiene programs.
It is the vision of Sigma Phi Alpha to enhance the dental hygiene profession’s role and image in the delivery of quality healthcare to the public.
Sigma Phi Alpha’s Goals
Membership in Sigma Phi Alpha is comprised of graduates from accredited dental hygiene programs with high scholastic achievement and elected dental hygiene educators. Second year students shall be elected to membership who rank highest in scholarship and character and exhibit potential qualities for future growth and attainment as recommended by the faculty members. This membership shall be limited to ten percent (10%) of the graduating class and shall be selected from a list composed of the upper twenty percent (20%) of the class.
