Municipal Police Academy Admissions

Class

Individuals wishing to enroll in the ACT 120 (Basic) Training Program, and who are not sworn police officers, must meet the following qualifications:

  • Attained a minimum age of 18 years.
  • Have not been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one (1) year's imprisonment.
  • Have not been convicted of any offense that would preclude a person from carrying a firearm under "The Uniform Firearms Act."
  • Have attained a high school diploma or GED.
  • Successfully completed a Physical Fitness pre-test.
  • Successfully completed a reading comprehensive examination; a psychological examination administered by the Police Academy; and a physical examination.
  • Successfully completed an oral interview.

How to Apply

  1. Obtain and complete the Municipal Police Academy Application packet. Call 610-278-0659 to request application materials, or download online forms, below.
  2. Return completed application with required forms to the Municipal Police Academy.
  3. Submit Criminal History Records Check Form with fee payment to the Pennsylvania State Police. Form and instructions included with application packet. You can request for your criminal history records online from the PA State Police web site at: http://www.psp.state.pa.us/patch/site/default.asp.
  4. Arrange for medical examination by a board-certified physician. Form for medical examination is included in application packet.
  5. Complete reading comprehension and physiological examinations.
  6. Complete oral interview.
  7. Complete Uniform Firearms Act Training Questionnaire.
