DRA 110 Introduction to Drafting
Credits: 3.00An introductory course in drafting. This course develops the basic competencies required for the field. Subject areas are geometrics, multi-view drawings, section views, and auxiliary views. Lettering, dimensioning, and tolerance are also included in the course.
DRA 115 Computer Aided Drafting I
Credits: 3.00A course to introduce drafting students, or anyone with drafting experience, to the use of the computer to create, revise, and manipulate architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and drawing files. The basic commands of the AUTOCAD program are used. Prerequisites: DRA 110 and CIS 110 or equivalent.
DRA 124 Drafting: Architectural I
Credits: 3.00This course provides the student with an introduction to architectural drawing. The student will develop competencies in this area by designing and drawing the plans for a residential dwelling. The scope of this course includes: architectural design; plot plan and site development; floor and foundation plans; wall construction; window and door selection and detailing; stairways; fireplaces and chimneys; and roof construction. Prerequisite: DRA 110
DRA 134 Drafting: Mechanical I
Credits: 3.00A second course in engineering drafting; it provides the student with problems in working drawings, developments, gears and cams, isometric, and perspective projection. Prerequisite: DRA 110
DRA 215 Computer Aided Drafting II
Credits: 3.00Advanced AUTOCAD is designed to instruct AUTOCAD users in techniques for configuring programs to meet the special requirements of particular disciplines and to increase drawing productivity. Prerequisite: DRA 115 and CIS 110 or equivalent.
DRA 217 Computer-Aided Drafting III
Credits: 3.00This course is designed to provide an in-depth study of computer aided drafting and design in three-dimensions. The course focuses on the understanding, construction, and manipulation of extrusion, wireframe, surface, and solid models using CAD. The course covers theory of 3D, displaying 3D models, 2 1/2 D extrusion, wireframe, solid modeling, a presentation of 3D models, plotting and rendering 3D drawings. The AUTOCAD drafting program will be used.
DRA 224 Drafting: Architectural II
Credits: 3.00A continuation of the architectural drawing sequence, this course examines the topics of electrical systems, environmental systems, specifications and business dealings, architectural rendering and commercial architecture. Prerequisite: DRA 124. Offered Fall Semester
DRA 225 Drafting: Architectural III
Credits: 3.00A course in structural drafting and design. Steel, wood, and concrete are examined from the load bearing and stress standpoint. Mathematical computations and graphic representation form the essentials of this course. Prerequisite: DRA 224. Offered Spring Semester.
DRA 234 Drafting: Mechanical II
Credits: 3.00This course provides students with an introduction to electronic drafting in the electronic industry. Included are a familiarization with basic electronic terms and the identification of components/solid state devices used in the electronics industry. Students learn to read and draw electronic schematic/logic diagrams with an emphasis on using drafting templates and aids. Also included are design of electronic printed circuit boards and the rendering of associated drawings necessary for their manufacture and assembly. Prerequisite: DRA 110, DRA 115. Offered Fall Semester.
DRA 235 Drafting: Mechanical III
Credits: 3.00A course that emphasizes the practical application of acquired skills in the preparation of drawings related to the use of engineering processes and materials. Topics covered include fasteners, finishes, weld symbols, geometric tolerance, and process piping. Prerequisite: DRA 134. Offered Spring Semester
DRA 240 CADD Management
Credits: 3.00In this course, the student, working with the instructor, can pursue an in-depth study of the management of computer aided drafting/design in the field of drafting and design.
