Credits: 1.00This course provides the opportunity for a student to work closely with a faculty member in a specialty area of Italian. The study plan must be developed by the supervising faculty member in collaboration with the student, and approved by the Humanities Division Dean. Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor and the Dean.
ITA 201 Intermediate Italian I
Credits: 3.00A continuation of the study of the structure of the Italian language. Conversation and composition are emphasized. Culture is always present.
ITA 202 Intermediate Italian II
Credits: 3.00This course is a continuation of ITA 201. Discussions of Italian culture are accompanied by grammar review and practice in communication and composition. Prerequisite: Intermediate Italian or equivalent.
ITA 215 Conversational Italian
Credits: 3.00A course for students who understand Italian and its basic grammatical structure, and who want to speak and write it fluently. It is conducted entirely in Italian; various topics of life in Italy today discussed include customs, politics, the Italian cinema, etc. Prerequisites: ITA 202 or equivalent.
ITA 216 Conversational Italian II
Credits: 3.00A continuation of ITA 215 with review of grammar and practical use of the language on a more advanced level. Prerequisites: ITA 215 or equivalent
ITA 251 Advanced Italian I
Credits: 3.00A course designed to improve proficiency in written and oral Italian through advanced conversation, grammar, and composition. The contemporary culture of Italy and the Italian-speaking countries is studied via materials selected from the media as well as from the cultural readings. Italian literature is approached through the study of representative excerpts from the works of major Italian authors. Prerequisite: ITA 202 or equivalent
ITA 252 Advanced Italian II
Credits: 3.00A continuation of ITA 251, with more advanced written and oral grammar and conversational practice and a more thorough familiarization with Italian literature and culture. Prerequisites: ITA 251
ITA 299 Ind Study in Italian
Credits: 3.00This course is a continuation of Italian. Discussions of Italian culture are accompanied by grammar review and practice in communication and composition. Prerequisite: The course is open to students with intermediate Italian or equivalent.
