College Assessment

Faculty should be aware of the College’s efforts to monitor the students’ overall academic performance. This is what is often referred to as assessment from 10,000 feet. The Associate to the President for Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for monitoring the College’s performance on several important key indicators and for sharing these findings with the College community through the Institutional Effectiveness Model (IEM) on Mcadam. Institutional effectiveness represents a global assessment of the College and answers the question of how well the College is doing relative to its Mission.

Some of the key indicators in the IEM that may be of interest to faculty to review from time-to-time have to do with student success and include

  • Degree completion rates
  • Student persistence/retention from semester-to-semester
  • Student achievement of their primary educational goal
  • Student success rates
  • Transfer rates

These key indicators are also reviewed at the program-level as part of the APR process.
