Deadlines and Process
Application for a sabbatical is made the fall prior to the year the sabbatical is requested. Notification of the status of the sabbatical request is made no later than the beginning of the spring term of the prior year. Faculty may take advantage of the opportunity of meeting with the Sabbatical Committee to answer questions or to reinforce purpose of the project.
Criteria used to evaluate a sabbatical request
Each proposal is evaluated according to the following criteria and a maximum of 10 points assigned to each:- Benefit of the planned activity/experience to the College---how does it relate to the mission of the College.
- Benefit of the planned activity/experience to needs of the faculty member’s division and how it relates to division goals/objectives.
- Overall quality of the proposal/planned experience and in particular why a sabbatical leave is necessary to accomplish the planned activity.
- Service Credit—one point is given for each year of full time service beyond the six (6) year minimum requirement, to a maximum of ten (10) points.
Sharing results with the College Community
Upon completion of their sabbatical, each recipient will prepare a report for the College’s President and also present their findings to their faculty peers through a special CTL session.
