The Learning Assistance Lab at West Campus

    Student in LAL

    Summer Trout, Tutorial Coordinator

The West Campus Learning Assistance Lab (LAL-West) was established in 1996 to provide academic support to MCCC students taking classes at West Campus or those taking classes at Central Campus who live or work in the Pottstown area.

The LAL is a drop-in tutorial center. No appointments are necessary. Its services are free to any MCCC student. A staff of tutors is available on a regularly scheduled basis.

The primary function of the LAL is to provide students with assistance with their course work or in the computer labs.

    Computers

Three Computer Labs are a part of the Learning Resource Center (LRC) and are staffed by library and LAL personnel. These are rooms 161, 162, and 163. Students need to be enrolled in the current semester to use their accounts. Tutors can help students access and understand the software they need to use to complete course work and learn more about the courses in which they are registered.

Students have a vast array of computer applications available to them through the College, including

    • Microsoft Office—Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
    • Academic Applications—software for art, nursing, and computer classes
    • Internet Explorer
    • Student E-mail—under E-tools on the College's home page
    • WebAdvisor—for grades and transcripts
    • Blackboard—used in e-learning and in many face-to-face classes

Students may pick up copies of our popular "minischedules" in the LAL. Minischedules are bookmark-sized and give tutoring times for single subject areas, such as math (yellow), English (pink), science (salmon), history (goldenrod), computers (green), and business (lilac).

If you have a question about tutoring and schedules, please e-mail us at lalwest@mc3.edu or call the LAL at 610-718-1945.

    Testing

The West Campus Library—not the LAL—administers makeup exams and exams for e-learning courses. To schedule an exam or make an appointment to take an exam, contact the West Campus Library at 610-718-1864.
