Keep a personal spelling list.
Make up a list of key words in your major subjects.
Study a word list of common English words. Here's one study approach.
Pronounce the word. Pronouncing it in syllables may be helpful.
Say the letters. Again, grouping them in syllables may be helpful.
Visualize the word as you spell it orally.
Write the word. If you can correctly write the word 2 times without looking back at it, you have probably learned its spelling.
You've probably noticed that you repeatedly misspell the same words. Check over some of your papers for misspelled words circled by your instructors. Or think about the spellings of words that you always question before you write them down. Make up a list of these words, and keep it in a convenient place for referral.
