    About the LEAD Institute

Montgomery County Community College is committed to providing access to higher education for all capable students. The LEAD Institute is an avenue for admission and a way to support talented underrepresented students who aspire to attend college.

The LEAD Institute was started in 1990 to expand the pool of talented underrepresented students that attended college in Montgomery County. Also, to help introduce unrepresented students to careers where they were not traditionally well represented, as well as, careers that would be in high demand in the future: Technology, Health Related Professions, Communication, and Computer Science.

Essentially, the program prepares students and their families for the rigors of a college education by focusing on study skills, leadership development and career exploration. Ultimately, allowing students to seamlessly go from high school to college and beyond.

    LEAD Institute – Summer Program

Students enrolled in the LEAD Institute – Summer Program will have the opportunity to earn “free” college credits. The LEAD Institute provides scholarships to students to attend a comprehensive six-week summer program designed to introduce students to the community college experience. In addition, the program provides students with career exploration opportunities. Moreover, the LEAD Institute offers cultural enrichment activities by taking students on various field trips and college visits.

All tuition, fees, books and field trips will be covered by the LEAD Institute.
