West Campus Expansion
| On January 18, 2006, Montgomery County Community College opened the doors to its new facility at 16 High Street in Pottstown. The expansion added 26,000 square feet of space (50,000 square feet includes the second floor, phase 2, which will not be implemented for several years) to the West Campus’ existing 90,000 square feet at 101 College Drive, enabling the College to expand its service to students, businesses and the community. The Verizon Foundation Center for Excellence in Workforce Education and Training expands offerings in workforce education, while two new art studios and gallery make the College a premiere arts center and cultural resource for the area. Students at all levels of their education also have increased opportunities for transfer via the newly-established University Center. The newest addition to the College’s West Campus in Pottstown is a cornerstone in the revitalization of the area. The facility, which is commonly referred to as the former Vaughan Knitting Mill, was renovated to historically-correct standards under the National Parks Service, and also met the standards and approval of the Pottstown Historic Architectural Review Board. |
