Schuylkill Riverfront Academic and Heritage Center
Outdoor Plan
Outdoor Learning LabWith the adjacent 30 acres of woodlands, the nature trails, and river, the site provides an ideal outdoor learning lab to support recreation and environmental science classes. Access to the water trail lends itself to canoe and kayaking courses and the nature trails will provide space for walking and fitness courses. PromenadeThe Borough engaged the local architect firm, Simone Jaffe Collins, to develop the Promenade which connects downtown Pottstown to the river. Part of the Promenade Phase II Development includes a walking path that will extend 17 feet in front of the building and includes widening the driveway to 40 feet for in and out lanes. |

Parking
Working in full partnership with the Borough, the College intends to fit out the parking area to assist in increasing community access to the SRHA, the river and the College’s main campus facilities as well as the Schuylkill Riverfront Academic and Heritage Center. The College is working with the Borough to assure that these plans support their promenade development efforts that tie downtown to the river via a walking path. College resources combined with already dedicated Borough resources will allow this to become a beautification effort that will enhance the attractiveness of reaching the river. The plan includes 202 parking spaces.
Amphitheater
The College will to work to develop an outside amphitheater, with the Borough, to support a summer series of cultural events along the river. The College’s Cultural Affairs Office is currently expanding offerings in Pottstown and the amphitheater will provide an additional venue to expand the opportunity to bring live arts performances to Pottstown.
