“Mr. Sánchez plays with unforced authority and a searching, smoldering cadence.” - The New York Times
One of the finest, most progressive players on the contemporary scene, David Sanchez earned his first Latin Grammy Award in 2004 for Best Instrumental Album . Sanchez distinct take on Latin jazz is one that draws heavily on Miles Davis and John Coltrane. As a part of his concert he will perform La Leyenda del Cañaveral , a suite originally commissioned by Chamber Music America’s New Works: Creation and Presentation Program. “La Leyenda del Canaveral” is particularly ambitious, colored by African-influenced percussion and chants, spirited post-bop interplay and the now yearning, now passionate sound of Sanchez’s tenor” says The Washington Post . His sound is hot, passionate and articulate…not to be missed!
