Monnette Sudler's Fourth Annual Philadelphia Guitar Summit is Saturday, Dec. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Science Center Theatre, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell.
The Philadelphia Guitar Summit features world-class guitar masters from the Philadelphia area and beyond in a series of workshops culminating in an amazing concert. The summit presents a variety of genre, including jazz guitar, flamenco, blues, roots and "free" music and also includes African string instruments, electronic applications and advice on guitar purchasing, tuning and maintenance.
The featured artist Larry Coryell is a pioneer of jazz rock and deserves a special place in the history books. In the 1960s, he brought a unique sensibility to jazz electric guitar playing. Muscian magazine named him to its list of 100 greatest guitarists alive today, and after releasing more than 60 albums as a leader and playing on dozens more as a sideman in the last 40 years, Coryell has definitely earned that honor.
Tickets are $28 for general admission and $12 for children under 12 years. Parking is available in front of the Science Center. For information and tickets, visit www.mc3.edu/livelyarts or call 215-641-6518.
