Coming off a heartbreaking 1-2 overtime loss to the Bucks County Community College Centurians, the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men’s soccer team had something to prove Saturday.
The Mustangs posted a spectacular 8-1 victory over the Philadelphia Community College Colonials during the College’s annual Community Day celebration.
Heading off the first half offensive charge was freshman forward Tom Dempsey (Methacton) who shot a rocket past the Colonials goalkeeper. Following his lead freshman teammates Ahmed Faik (Upper Dublin) and Mike Wambold (Upper Moreland) also found the back of the net taking the Mustangs into the second half with a 3-0 advantage.
Just minutes after the break Dempsey started the attack once again, this time followed by a goal apiece from sophomore Jerry Francois (Cheltenham) and freshman Christian Pastor (Souderton) and two final goals from freshman Ryan Nelson (Wissahickon).
This win bumps up the Mustangs to an overall record of 8-2. The team will take on the Delaware County Community College Phantoms at home on Wednesday Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.
