Montgomery County Community College is pleased to present the fall installment of the interview/talk show program "Issues and Insights" on Wednesdays, Oct. 14 from 12:30-2 p.m. and Oct. 21 from 12:30-2 p.m. and again from 7-8:30 p.m. The programs will be held in Science Center room 214 at the Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell. The presentations are free and are open to the public.
On Oct. 14, Islamic scholars Dr. Khalil Malik and Dr. Shams Inati will present a program titled "The Genius of Islam: Contributions to World Civilization." Dr. Malik, a Koran scholar and frequent participant in inter-religious debates, will present his views on the centrality the Koran plays in the daily lives of its Muslim followers. Dr. Inati, a theology and religion professor at Villanova University, will speak about the cultural contributions of Islam. The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session.
On Oct. 21, the film "Nicolas Winston: the Power of Good" will be screened and discussed. The film chronicles the 1939 rescue and transportation of 669 Czechoslovakian children after the Nazi take-over. The rescue was lead by Nicolas Winston when he forged visas, passports and adoption papers before arranging homes in Great Britain. The discussion following the film will be facilitated by Czech Honorary Consul General Peter A. Raphaeli.
