The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs fought hard against the Camden Community College Cougars but were unable to get the win. Ranked 8th in the nation among NJCAA Division III women’s soccer programs, the Cougars slid past the Mustangs in a 4-0 victory Thursday afternoon.

The Mustangs were looking to go one-two-three this week, riding high off wins against Manor College and Bucks County Community College on Tuesday and Wednesday. But sophomore forward Danielle Magazzu set a winning pace for the Cougars, scoring their first goal just one minute into the game.

The Cougars maintained an aggressive offensive attack outshooting the Mustangs 18-3 but Mustangs sophomore goalkeeper Erica Smolcynski shined with a stellar performance. Smolcynski and her defensive unit were able to dull the Cougars’ edge, preventing them from running up the score.

Montgomery County Community College women’s soccer will suit up again Saturday Sept. 26 for a home field contest against Brookdale Community College. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
