Students from Montgomery County Community College raised $1,500 for Family Services of Montgomery County during the spring 2009 semester.

The Student Inter-Club Relations Council, which is comprised of all student clubs and organizations at the College’s West Campus in Pottstown, raised $1,200 during its 8th annual Lasagna Dinner in March. Each year, students select a dinner honoree, with the proceeds benefitting a charity of the honoree’s choice. This year’s dinner honored Cindy Murphy, who recently celebrated 10 years supporting the areas of Career Services, Student Leadership and Involvement, and Admissions at the College. She is also a graduate of the College and serves as the advisor to Doug’s Corner, a community service club at the West Campus.

The remaining $300 donation to Family Services was raised by the College’s Honors Club through a series of bake sales at the Central Campus in Blue Bell. The Honors Club is comprised of students who participate in the College’s academically-competitive Honors Program.

Family Services is the largest comprehensive nonprofit social service agency in Montgomery County. Since 1900, Family Services has been caring for children, seniors and families who face everyday emotional difficulties or physical hardships. Each year, Family Services’ innovative social service programs make a direct impact on 16,000 lives in Montgomery County.
