The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs beat the Lehigh-Carbon Community College Cougars 4-0 on Saturday.
Led by freshman Dave Griffith (North Penn), the Mustangs penetrated the Cougars defense repeatedly, posting 30 shots on goal. Cougars’ goalkeeper Terry Stewart (Northwestern) played an outstanding game, making 17 saves preventing the Mustangs from running up the score.
However Griffith found his way past Stewart with well-placed shots in the 21st, 39th, and 73rd minutes of the game. Freshman Christian Pastor (Souderton) also notched a goal for the Mustangs in the 77th minute bringing the final score to 4-0.
This victory brings the Mustangs' record to 9-3. The team will play their final home game against the Northampton Community College Spartans on Wednesday Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. The game will feature a half time ceremony honoring the team's sophomore players.
