To continue to address the need for workforce development and career programs that prepare unemployed county residents for employment in high-demand areas, Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) is partnering with the Montgomery County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) to extend and enhance its Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) through the fall 2009 semester.

The College will hold TAP information sessions on Friday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Central Campus in room 214 of the Science Center and at the West Campus in room 213 of South Hall. The Central Campus is located at 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell, and the West Campus is located at 101 College Drive, Pottstown. For information, call the College's Office of Career Services at 610-718-1802.

"Montgomery County Community College recognizes the need to continue to assist unemployed county residents during these economically challenging times," said Dr. Karen A. Stout, President. "By partnering with the Workforce Investment Board, the College can train residents for high-demand occupations so that they can find employment in the area."

Individuals must meet Workforce Investment Act guidelines to be eligible for the program and will be assessed for program eligibility by CareerLink specialists at the College's campuses in Blue Bell and Pottstown. The amount of tuition funding that students receive is dependent on their course of study, and both credit and non-credit programs are eligible.

Since reinstating TAP in January 2009, the College has served a total of 235 students for 1,108 credit-hours.
