Dr. James Diffley of Global Insight to Speak on Economic Recovery

Montgomery County Community College will present its third annual Business and Computer Science Distinguished Lecture Series with a public address on economic recovery by economist Dr. James Diffley, group managing director of Global Insight’s U.S. Regional Services Group. The lecture will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 12:30 p.m. in the Science Center Theater at the College’s Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell. The event is free of charge and is open to the public. For information, contact Amit Singh.

During his presentation, titled "The Economic Outlook After the Great Recession," Dr. Diffley will discuss the U.S. economy in general as well as the economic outlook for Pennsylvania and Montgomery County. Following the address, he will host a question and answer session.

At Global Insight, Dr. Diffley assumes overall responsibility for U.S. Regional Services, including its Global Insight Real Estate and Construction Service, which provides detailed residential real estate forecasts for all U.S. states and 300 metro regions. His most recent study, titled "The Mortgage Crisis: Economic and Fiscal Implications for Metro Areas," was presented at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in 2007.

Dr. Diffley joined WEFA, the predecessor to Global Insight, in 1997 after nine years with the New Jersey Department of Treasury. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

The College’s Business and Computer Science Division Distinguished Lecture Series was created by Dr. Amit Singh, dean of Business and Computer Science at the College. The annual event is designed to expose students, faculty and community members to speakers who are leaders in their industries and who can add to their understanding of global business, economy and technology. Previous speakers have included WaWa President and CEO Howard Stoeckel and Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia President and CEO Dr. Charles Plosser.
