Central Campus Facilities Renewal

In 2002, the Board of Trustees approved the College’s Facilities Master Plan to 2010. The plan includes an ambitious renewal program for the nearly 40-year-old Central Campus to position it to meet current and future enrollment demands and to support the College’s dynamic academic programs.

The College is moving forward with planned renovations to two Central Campus buildings – Parkhouse Hall, our primary classroom building, and College Hall, which houses all the student support services, including the Brendlinger Library. Both renovations will begin in 2009 and will be completed by 2011.

The new College Hall facilities will feature a visitor’s Reception Center and a two-level Student Services area, with all student services accessed through a centralized, one-stop facility. The fully renovated building will also have more space allotted for student activities, open computing, and the Learning Assistance Laboratory. The Brendlinger Library will also be modernized to include an Internet café, enhanced electronic resources, and increased study spaces for students.

The Parkhouse Hall project will feature an enclosed atrium, updated classrooms, faculty offices and meeting rooms, an enhanced information center, a new presence for Workforce Development and Continuing Education, and a Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.

As part of the College Hall/Library renovation, the College will break ground in April 2009 on an 8,000 square foot Children’s Center to allow for the expansion of services from 40 to 80 students. The new Center will also allow current Early Childhood Education degree seeking students to participate in an on campus learning laboratory.

In accordance with the plan, in late 2007, the College opened the 60,000 square foot Advanced Technology Center. In early 2009, the College opened its renovated and expanded Fine Arts Center (fondly known as the Art Barn).
