Board of Trustees Policy

SUBJECT:

GPA Calculation for Repeated Grades

NUMBER:
3.5
DATE:
May 2002
SUPERSEDES:

Purpose

This policy is developed to ensure that the Grade Point Average is calculated consistently for all students.

Policy

Students should be recognized and credited for their academic efforts and not penalized for a poor or unsuccessful course attempt if they choose to repeat a course. Therefore, students are allowed to repeat courses up to three times regardless of the grade earned. However, all grades earned will remain on the transcript. The highest grade earned for the course, regardless of which attempt, will be used to calculate the Grade Point Average.
