Montgomery County Community College’s Medical Assisting Certificate Program is designed to prepare graduates to be proficient in all administrative and clinical competencies necessary to perform numerous jobs in physicians’ offices, hospitals or other health care facilities. The program integrates theory, laboratory simulations and a clinical practicum experience in a variety of community locations.
The Pennsylvania Center for Workforce Information and Analysis categorizes medical assistants as high-priority occupations for the workforce investment area through the year 2020. The U.S Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook predicts medical assistant jobs will grow at a faster than average rate (as high as 30%) through the year 2022. Growth will not slow down any time soon, as 78 million baby boomers will be older than age 65 by 2030.
The College’s Medical Assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
