CCNA Voice

Purpose

The Cisco Certified Network Associate VOICE curriculum is designed for students who are seeking the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for entry-level careers in Unified Communications. This is a hands-on program that emphasizes practical experience. CCNA Voice aims to develop an understanding of telephony principles and the design and implementation of a small to medium sized IP Telephony solution.

Program Description

The Cisco CCNA Voice program is designed to prepare students for the 640-461 ICOMM Implementing Cisco IOS Unified Communications certification exam that is associated with the CCNA Voice certification. Students will learn basic IP telephony installation, configuration, and maintenance skills for implementing and configuring small- to medium sized IP Telephony solutions using Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express, Cisco Unity Express, and the UC500 Smart Business Communications System solutions. CCNA Voice provides a next step for CCNA level students who want to expand their skill set to prepare for a career in Unified Communications. This is a 70-hour program.

Primary Goals

This program provides students with the skills needed to succeed in voice networking-related degree programs and helps them prepare for IIUC certification. It also helps students develop the skills necessary to fulfill the job responsibilities of voice network technicians, network administrators, and network engineers. It provides a theoretically-rich, hands-on introduction to Voice Over IP installations. CCNA Voice will equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare for entry-level careers in Unified Communications. The program covers topics such as PSTN components and technologies, VoIP components and technologies, Configure gateways, voice ports, and dial peers to connect to the PSTN and service provider networks Configure a Cisco network to support VoIP, implement UC500 using Cisco Configuration Assistant, Implement Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express to support endpoints using CLI and Implement voicemail features using Cisco Unity Express.

Consideration for Industry Certification and Articulation

The program leads to the 640-461 ICOMM Implementing Cisco IOS Unified Communications certification exam that is associated with the CCNA Voice certification.

Prerequisite

The student should preferably have CCNA level traditional telephony knowledge.

Recognition of Completion

The student must get a minimum of 70% adjusted score to graduate. A certificate of completion is awarded by Cisco.
