The College’s Interactive Media AAS degree program offers concentrations in:
- Web Development
- Web Design
- Mobile Applications
- Game and Simulation Design
The program begins with introductory courses that help students build foundational skills and explore all the concentrations to refine their area of interest. After students choose a concentration, computer science electives let them hone their skills in the area of their choice.
As an interdisciplinary program, the Interactive Media program exposes students to the broader industry and helps them build marketable skills with hands-on learning. It features a project-based capstone course, giving students from all concentrations the chance to work together to plan, develop, and implement a project.
The field of interactive media has a strong employment outlook. The Pennsylvania Center for Workforce Information and Analysis lists application and systems software developers as high-priority occupations for the region. According to the Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, the job outlook for interactive media professionals is booming. From 2014 to 2024, job growth is projected to be 17% for software developers and 27% for web developers.
