Dance is a highly competitive field. Professional dancers and choreographers hold about 40,000 jobs nationwide. The hours are long, the demands are great, but so are the rewards.
Among the many career possibilities in dance are performer, choreographer, teacher, dance or movement therapist; dance historian/writer; dance critic/journalist; arts management; dance notator; and technical theater.
Montgomery County Community College offers many classes in dance including performance classes in ballet, modern, jazz and improvisation. Other classes include dance composition, dance wellness, dance history and appreciation.
