Physical Sciences

Scientists employ the principles and theories of science and mathematics to solve problems in research and development and to help invent and improve products and processes. Graduates with associate degrees can be employed as science technicians, a field which provides more than 267,000 jobs nationwide. Graduates with an AS degree may also transfer to four-year colleges to pursue professional opportunities in the sciences. The study of physical science with its emphasis on math, chemistry and physics may be a gateway program to later pursue medical school.
