Core Goals

The General Education Core Curriculum shapes student experiences at Montgomery County Community College. The Core offers students the opportunity to explore and develop common skills, knowledge, and values needed to be successful in both the local and global environment.

Developed by the faculty, the thirteen learning goals and competencies are designed to help students communicate, solve problems, integrate knowledge and place value on self and others. These competencies provide the foundation essential to learning in all disciplines and give students the tools necessary to sculpt a productive, informed future and a satisfying quality of life. The core develops in students the habits of mind and breadth of academic experiences that are the hallmark of an educated person.

Explore the individual goals listed below for more information about the Core, its educational outcomes, and a complete list of requirements.
