MGT 111 Principles of Management

In addition to building a solid foundation of management fundamentals, this course introduces students to emerging concepts and issues that are shaping the theory and practice of management. Students discuss quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, global management, social responsibility, ethics and other topics that students will encounter both on the job and in any advanced studies.
MGT 121 Small Business Management

Students gain practical knowledge about starting and managing a small business organization. Course topics include the development of a business plan, financial structuring, site selection, marketing strategies and pricing techniques.
MGT 131 Human Resources Management

Students learn personnel procedures and practices. Topics include equal opportunity, personnel planning, employee selection, employee incentive systems, and performance appraisal.
MGT 133 Managing Diversity in the Workplace
Credits: 3.00
Students learn the challenges of managing diversity in the workplace, and develop competencies in order to manage in such an environment. Students will study the economic, political, and social changes that require diversity management and will learn to develop diversity strategies that will assist organizations in implementing effective diversity plans. This course will challenge students to think creatively about diversity and diversity planning in order to improve the functioning and productivity of organizations.
MGT 141 Principles of Risk Management/Insurance

Students learn the fundamentals of risk management and the appropriate application of insurance. The course stresses the nature of risk as well as the purpose and use of insurance in risk management.
MGT 151 Managing Electronic Commerce

This course introduces students to the major issues and topics in electronic commerce. It will provide vital information for operational and strategic business decision-making given the rapid technical developments in electronic commerce, for example: the Internet, the World Wide Web, electronic payment systems, and intranets. Prerequisite: CIS 106 Introduction to the Internet, or equivalent.
MGT 160 Customer Relationship Management

This course introduces students to major issues and creative problem-solving in managing customer relationships. Important strategies necessary to maintain high quality relationships with customers in a competitive, challenging, and complex environment are developed. Current trends in the industry will be reviewed and students will develop the ability to interpret these trends and will develop the skills necessary to achieve excellence in managing customer relationships in a dynamic marketplace.
MGT 198 Coop Internship—Management I

This course consists of employment in a college-approved business organization to enable the student to gain insight into modern management techniques. The course requires an optimum of 15 hours per week supervised and coordinated by a faculty member. Students are rated by the employer on their job performance. MGT 210 Ethical Decision Making in Bus

This course emphasizes the complexities of business decision making within an ethical framework. After identifying the wide variety of ethical issues facing individuals in business and the moral philosophies which can be applied, the course will develop an ethical decision-making framework. Both the role of the individual and of the organization in influencing ethical decision-making will be emphasized as will the impact of cultural influences on international business ethics. Managing ethics will be proposed as an essential part of the function of organizational leaders. Prerequisites: MGT 110 and ACC 150 or 151, or equivalent. This course meets General Education Core Goal 2: Analytic Skills; Core Goal 12: Global Perspectives and Diversity; and Core Goal 13: Ethical Reasoning and Behavior
MGT 221 Supervision

Students will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to grow into a supervisory position in a business environment. Students will integrate the knowledge gained in basic business courses and refine the basic supervisory and management skills learned in these courses. MGT 231 Project Management

This course will introduce students to key aspects of contemporary project management. Through hands-on exercises and case studies, students will learn the project planning process in detail, culminating in the creation of a baseline plan and budget using a state-of-the-art project management tool. Topics addressed will be project scope and objectives, deliverables, milestones tasks, work breakdown structure, responsibility, and authority, project network, critical path analysis, costs, resource allocation, and auditing.
MGT 240 International Management

Students investigate the international environment of business management, and learn to apply the principles of management in international situations. Students explore changes in technology, international affairs, business practices, global competition, organizational, social, and legal responsibility, and related international management topics. Effective managers must be thoroughly familiar with the risks and opportunities of conducting business internationally.
