Secondary Education AA

Purpose

The Secondary Education program is designed to permit students to complete the first two years of a four year baccalaureate degree program and transfer to a four-year college or university.

This program is divided into three distinct areas

  1. liberal arts courses
  2. professional education courses
  3. specific subject matter courses

Program Objectives

A graduate should be able to:

  • transfer to a four year degree institution.
  • select among career options open to an individual in the areas of secondary education.
  • explain and illustrate basic educational concerns such as tenure laws, teaching techniques and organization and administration within the school and classroom setting.
  • understand the roles and responsibilities of a secondary school teacher.
  • demonstrate knowledge of certification and tenure.
