Apply for scholarships

Montco awards over 500 scholarships a year to our students. In addition to College scholarships, there are numerous external scholarships available for you to explore.

The good news is that most of our scholarships do not require you to apply to be considered—as long as you have filed your FAFSA. However, we highly recommend that you fill out our optional application, which puts you in the running to be considered for additional scholarship opportunities that may take into account your or a family member's employer, for example.

All scholarship communications will be sent to your College email address. Be sure to check your email so you do not miss any important information.

External Scholarships

There are many resources that can help you find and apply for scholarships outside of those Montco offers.

Montgomery County Community College Scholarships and Approved External Scholarships
Before applying for external scholarships, you should first ensure you’ve completed the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (if eligible) and have applied for all Montgomery County Community College (“Montco”) scholarship opportunities by completing Montco's Supplemental Scholarship Application.

External Scholarship Disclaimer
Montco is not responsible for the administration of any of the scholarships listed on this page. The College is not associated with any of the affiliates listed, nor does the College vet the opportunities presented. Montco provides these scholarship opportunities for you to research and apply at your own discretion. You are encouraged to conduct your own research and review the scholarship requirements prior to completing and submitting an application.

Avoid a Scholarship Scam
Unfortunately, many students and parents become victims of scholarship scams. Protect yourself and your personal information; if a scholarship application requires your social security number or for you to pay to apply, this is likely a scam; do not ever provide this information in an application!

Resources you should review prior to applying for an external scholarship

What you need to do if you are awarded an external scholarship
If offered a scholarship though an external agency, you are required to upload a copy of your official notification letter as the funding must be included in your financial aid offer letter, per federal regulations.

Ensure your scholarship check includes your name and Montco Student ID number and is sent, along with your official notification letter, to:

Montgomery County Community College

Potential Financial Aid Adjustment
Receipt of external scholarship funds could reduce previous aid awarded. The College will always reduce loan funds before any other aid source. You will be notified of any required changes to your financial aid awards via a revised financial aid offer letter, viewable through Self-Service via Montco Connect.

Montco External Scholarship Repository
In addition to the external scholarships and search engines listed below, an External Scholarship Repository is available to all Montco applicants and students. New scholarship opportunities are added regularly, so make sure to save the page as a favorite, so you can revisit it often.
