Students Exempt from Placement Testing
Non-degree seeking students (students who are taking classes for personal or professional enrichment or are enrolled at another college or university), students who have an Associate’s degree or higher, students who have scored above certain scores on the PSAT, SAT, AP, CLEP tests, or students who have college transcripts which show equivalent competency, are exempt from taking placement tests.
Competency validations are score reports or college transcripts. Score reports include SAT, PSAT, AP, PSSA, CLEP, and Accuplacer, and these reports are valid for 5 years. College transfer credits, except for math and science which have a ten year expiration date, do not expire. To be exempt from a test, you must provide your score reports and your most recent high school or college transcript for evaluation at the time of application or testing.

College Level Math Placement
If a precollege math exemption is presented, students will be exempt from taking developmental math courses. However, students (except in group #1 above) should take the college level math placement test regardless of exemption because they may place into a higher level math course (MAT 116 and above). If a student places below MAT 116, then he/she will enroll in the most appropriate course in the introductory college math range: MAT 100 to MAT 115.

Not Exempt from Placement Testing
All students who are not exempt from placement testing need to take the reading, writing, and math placement tests. In addition, if you are a new student as of spring 2012 semester and would like to take BIO 131 (Anatomy and Physiology I), you must take a placement test or submit an exemption. Dual Credit students need to take only those tests that pertain to the prerequisites on the courses they would like to take.
