Early Admission for High School Students

The College's Early Admission Program enables current high school students to earn college credits prior to graduating from high school. High school students who have demonstrated personal and social maturity are invited to apply. The program is limited to students who have reached the age of 15 prior to the start of the semester for which they wish to enroll. Any student who has not completed high school and would like to take a course(s) at MCCC is considered an "early admission student" and should follow the procedures accordingly.*

STEP 1: Fill out the New Student Application or obtain a paper application from the Office of Admissions and Records.

STEP 2: The student should obtain an Application for Early Admission from the Office of Admissions and Records. This form must be completed for each semester the student intends to enroll in courses while in high school. Students should visit their high school guidance counselor or home education supervisor to seek permission for enrolling at MCCC. If the courses are for high school graduation requirements, it is the responsibility of the student and the high school to ensure that courses completed at MCCC will fulfill specific secondary school graduation requirements. Any student choosing to attend MCCC full-time during their senior year must also submit a high school transcript.

STEP 3: The student may bring the Application for Early Admission and Registration form to the Office of Admissions and Registration to register for the course and the Early Admission Entrance Workshop.

The student is strongly encouraged to contact the MCCC Advising Center at 215-641-6344 or a Counselor in the Counseling Center at 215-641-6577 to set up an appointment with an advisor/counselor to help with the process of course selection and preparation. The purpose of meeting with an advisor/counselor is to review the student's credentials to determine the appropriate level of academic preparedness, discuss the student's educational objectives, and review academic demands. Please note that placement tests may be required prior to a student enrolling depending on the course selected.

At registration, the student should submit the following to the Office of Admissions and Registration.

  • The MCCC New Student Application (you may complete online)
  • Application for Early Admission
  • Proof of age (driver’s license, passport, copy of birth certificate, etc)
  • A recent high school transcript or portfolio (required only for pre-requisites for some courses, home-schooled students or for students completing their diploma at MCCC and will be enrolled full-time)

Senior Year at MCCC

Some seniors may be eligible to become a full-time Montgomery County Community College student in lieu of their senior year of high school and still receive their high school diploma. Please check with your high school guidance department if this is an option for you. All full-time early admission students are strongly encouraged to take ORI 100 College Seminar in their first semester. This course serves as an orientation to college life including self-assessment and goal setting, academic success strategies, introduction to study skills and time management, familiarization with college resources, and appreciation of cultural diversity. This course also includes a lab component of individualized academic advising throughout the semester by the course instructor. Students foregoing their senior year of high school are not eligible for financial aid.
