Montgomery County Community College will be hosting the 14th annual Reach One to Teach One Conference for high school students in Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
The conference will feature educational workshops, leadership activities, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and motivational speakers. Students will have the opportunity to share ideas, as well as interact with young professionals in the community. Over 200 high school students attended last year's event.
This year's guest of honor is Dr. Claudia Curry, Founding Director of the Urban League of Philadelphia Leadership Institute, a Philadelphia-based institution designed to support and promote leadership capabilities of African Americans and other minorities. Under her administration, nearly 500 minority executives, including Mayor Michael Nutter, completed a comprehensive leadership development curriculum. She is also responsible for the design and implementation of the Women's Resource Network, a leadership development program at Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. She currently serves as the Founding Director of the Women's Center at Community College of Philadelphia.
Our guest performers are Monnette Sudler Honesty and her son Eric Honesty. Monnette Sudler Honesty is known for her soulful and electrifying music as a jazz guitarist and composer. Her original compositions and arrangements of jazz, jazz funk, blues African and soul provide the vehicle for Monnette and her son Eric to collaborate and jam. She is an innovative bandleader and engages her audiences with her sweet and rich vocal styling and poetry. Eric Honesty will be collaborating as a rap artist to produce a truly exhilarating duo.
Online registration for the conference will begin April 1, 2008 and close on May 9, 2008. Lunch is provided. For more information please contact:
