Public Safety - Protocols and Policies

Sexual Assault Protocol

The College offers sexual assault victims emergency medical treatment and emotional support. Medical options, counseling service and police reporting procedures are listed in the sexual assault protocol located in the Public Safety Office.

Drug, Alcohol and Weapons Policy

The possession, use or sale of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs, or the possession of weapons on campus, is prohibited. Any member of the College community consuming or using alcohol or illegal drugs or possessing weapons may be turned over to the local authorities for prosecution, and students will be referred to the Vice President of Student Affairs for disciplinary action.

The College Counseling Center and the Student Drop-In Center provide short-term drug and alcohol counseling. Students needing more in-depth assistance will be referred to outside resources and agencies. Drug and alcohol information is available at the Drop-In Center and the College Health Services office. The College conducts and Alcohol Awareness Week and other drug- and alcohol-related programs throughout the year.

Campus Communications and Conduct

Every College division and administrative office has a copy of the Policies and Procedures Manual which outlines security and emergency procedures, disciplinary procedures and the College's Code of Conduct. Students receive the Student Handbook which states the Code and the procedures for disciplinary action. The Code is also available from the vice President of Student Affairs and the Public Safety Office.

Candidates for employment at the College complete a formal job application, which requires information regarding criminal conduct of the applicant. Each incident reported is reviewed and judged on an individual basis. The information is not requested of student applicants.
