| Montgomery County Community College serves the residents of Montgomery County with quality affordable higher education. To that end, the College believes in the right of all of its students to a safe, secure campus where educational goals can be pursued in a supportive environment. This guide is designed to provide information regarding safety and security procedures and statistics on campus, in compliance with the Pennsylvania College and University Security and Information Act of 1988 and the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act of 1991. |

Campus facilities are generally open to the public from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. On Saturdays, facilities at the Central Campus are opened from 8 a.m. to noon, while those at West Campus are open from 7:00 a.m. to 12 noon. For special events scheduled on campus at times other than the listed hours, Public Safety officers will open the required buildings and secure facilities at the conclusion of the activity. College facilities have been designed and modified to be accessibke to handicapped persons, especially those individuals who use wheelchairs. |
The Department of Public Safety at MCCC consists of thirteen full-time officers and a supervisor. Public Safety Department officers must have a minimum of one year of full-time public safety experience before joining the staff, and receive additional on-campus training when hired. All Public Safety officers must complete training in CPR and first aid. The Public Safety Supervisor reports to the Director of Facilities Management and is responsible for the functioning of the department.
Public Safety officers are responsible for identifying violations of the College's Code of Conduct and ensuring the safety of College students, employees, and property.
Violations of the College's Code of Conduct are referred to the Vice President of Student Affairs. Offenses against the rules of the College and/or the laws and ordinances of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Whitpain Township may result in fines or sanctions, and may require the intervention of Pennsylvania State or Whitpain authorities.
The Public Safety Office is located on the Main Level of College Hall at the Central Campus. At the West Campus, public safety matters should be reported to an officer or to the Information Center.
