The Art Barn - Project Information

Project Goals

The Courage to Create Campaign preserves the best of the past and fulfills the brightest promise for the future. A new Art Barn on the Central Campus in Blue Bell will preserve the “barn and silo” architecture that pays homage to the disappearing agricultural past of Montgomery County. At the same time, the project is reflective of a future in which the data predicts continued, increasing enrollment in fine art programs by traditional and non-traditional students and community members.

The facility is a “space to create” for art majors that, at the same time, will create opportunities for the growing number of County residents who want to participate in the arts close to their homes. Among the non-traditional “users” of the facility is a large and growing contingent of senior citizens who regard the space as their community art center. They study under College instructors; they use studio space, especially the ceramics studio; and they are value-added to the educational experience of the traditional students with whom they interact.
