The Art Barn

From its inception in 1964, Montgomery County Community College has been an expression of Creative Courage. The community college movement that grew in response to the challenge from the Truman Commission in 1947 was the first broad scale educational venture of the 20th century. Just look where it has taken us!

The College stepped out with courage to provide a foundation on which a new society could be built in Montgomery County. The promise was that it would be a society in which all would have access to higher education and cultural growth and enrichment.

That new society exists in our County today, composed of the thousands of students and community members who have displayed their own courage in pursuing a better, richer life.

The College is at a crossroads and ready to take another leap forward in creative courage. The Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board of Directors have wholeheartedly endorsed the implementation of our facilities master plan, a part of the College’s Strategic Plan. The Courage to Create Campaign is the component dedicated to the renovation and expansion of the Fine Arts facility on the Central Campus, known affectionately as the Art Barn.

This project is courageous in many ways. It is the Foundation’s first capital campaign effort in College history and, coupled with the Advanced Technology Center, it is the first new classroom construction on the Central Campus since 1972!

Our goal is to inspire you through this view of courage in action. We want you to share the enormous satisfaction that resultsfrom having the courage to create! Please join us!

Sincerely,
