Steven Young Lee

Steven Young Lee received his MFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2004. In 2004-5, he lectured and taught at numerous universities throughout China. While there, Lee created a new body of work as part of a cultural and educational exchange fellowship in Jingdezhen, Jianxi Province. He has taught at The Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C. and has been the Resident Artist Director of the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts (The Bray) since 2006.

Over the past three years, Lee has focused on installing sustainable practices at the Bray while continuing to serve as one of the top ceramic residency programs in the world. He will provide insight on the process of "information gathering" and assessment that helped the Bray to reduce its energy consumption by 8% in 2008.
