Multicultural Film Series

Saturdays: October 10, November 14, December 12, 2009, and February 13, March 6 and April 17, 2010

Spotlighting diverse populations and groups around the world, including America, we will be presenting the College’s first ever African-American film series. Not only are we excited to be showing some of the best African American movies, but we have dug up THE EARLIEST SURVIVING African-American film, dating back to 1920, a silent film entitled "Within Our Gates," self-financed, written and directed by Oscar Micheaux, the famed African-American filmmaker.

In the spring, the MFS will return with a film series that showcases international women directors. Two of the films that are already lined up that you don't want to miss include "The Day I Became a Woman" from Iran and "La Petite Jerusalem" from France.
