"Reverse Threads"

Friday, December 11, 2009 at 8 PM

"Regina Carter creates music that is wonderfully listenable, probingly intelligent and, at times, breathtakingly daring … taking the listener into the future of jazz." - Time Magazine

Regina Carter's career has been a veritable crescendo of success on a mission to make a meaningful musical contribution on her own terms. Ms. Carter was recently named the John D. and Cathrine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellow for 2006 and received the prestigious “genius award.” Regina Carter's "Reverse Thread" project consists of music from the African Diaspora and includes violin, kora, accordion, bass and drums. It will include music from Mali, Senegal and other areas, a piece by Ayub Ogada (from the movie The Constant Gardener) as well as some original material and earlier repertoire.
