Playwriting

“Playwriting: Telling Our Stories” with Michael Whistler

Playwright and Theatre Arts Instructor Michael Whistler offers practical information on the process of creating stories for the stage, offering strategies for discovering character voice and revealing action. Working in the professional theatre, collaboration, and how the act of live theatre changes the writer’s craft will also be discussed.

Short Story

“Writing Fiction: From Page to Published!” with Kate Delany

This fiction workshop will focus on basic elements of craft (character, setting, conflict and point of view) and will also discuss strategies to polish your work and get it into print!

Journalism

“Sports Journalism: The Good, the Bad, and the Terrible” with Andy Martino.

Andy Martino will talk about the risks of sports writing in the Twitter age and how the public should consume information with a critical eye. Also, he will explore how blogs and newspapers can coexist in sports writing and how you can get started in the business.
