This course covers the period of Russian history from the beginning of the nineteenth century to present times. The course begins with the brief history of the Russian state before the 1800s and then proceeds to look at changes in the social, economic and political structure of pre-revolutionary Russia, as well as the formation of the Soviet Union, its break-up in 1991 and the post-Soviet period.
