What would you be willing to risk for love? How far would you go to get revenge? Three French films of the last decade flirt with disaster while testing the limits of love. There will be free lectures before the films in Science Center Theater at 7 PM with a talk-back afterwards led by Allan Schear, Professor of Film and Video, who will gives us "The Director's Cut" on Sept. 27. Tickets to all films are $5.00 at the door. Light refreshments will be sold.
A John Sayles Film Festival
Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 8 PM "Brother from Another Planet"
Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 8 PM "Lone Star"
Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 8 PM "Men with Guns"
Before there was an Independent Film Channel or a Sundance Festival, there was John Sayles, making it happen with a combination of talent, shrewdness, and determination. And he's kept on making it happen for over two decades, personifying the movement that he started in 1979 with The Return of the Secaucus 7. He has become the definitive independent Godfather of Bootstrap Cinema. Free lectures to precede the films at 7 PM.
