College Foundation Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

The College awards scholarships through the Montgomery County Community College Financial Aid Office. Although each scholarship has specific criteria for eligibility, all students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Generally, recipients are selected by a committee during the summer preceding the fall semester which the student should be registered for by May 1. The Financial Aid Office will send an award letter to the students. Awards are distributed equally into two semesters, unless indicated otherwise. Students should be sure they are accepted in the correct major/program of study at Montgomery County Community College. Students may conduct their own scholarship search online at: www.fastweb.com. The Financial Aid Office also keeps an updated scholarship book in their office with scholarships offered by other agencies for students to research.

 

Available Scholarships

A. Russell Parkhouse Scholarship/$1,000
Leadership/Service
Student must exhibit leadership and service characteristics of Mr. Parkhouse; completed 15 credits at Montgomery County Community College; 2.5 GPA or higher. Preference to student majoring in political science or government.

Allan C. Myers Scholarship/$1,200
High Scholastic Record
Freshman or returning students who exemplify the character of Allan Myers and have an excellent academic record.  Preference is given to graduates of Methacton School District or residents of Worcester Township.

Alumni Association Scholarship/$1,000
Student must be 25 years old or older; completed at least 12 credits.

Archibald E. and Martha W. Loeb Memorial Scholarship/Full Tuition up to $2,400
Norristown High School Graduate
$$ Graduating students of Norristown High School who have demonstrated academic ability and motivation are selected to receive these scholarships. Students must work part-time, be unlikely to receive other scholarships or grants, and be in pursuit of an associate's degree.

Arthur Loeben Scholarship in Earth Sciences/ $1,500
Academic Excellence in Earth Sciences
X  Student must be from Montgomery County; completed at least 12 credits; completed at least one course in geology, environmental biology, or geography; 3.0 GPA or higher; submit a letter of application describing his/her interest in land studies, environmental protection, conservation and/or land planning.

Audrey W. Howard Scholarship/$500
Science Major
$$ Student must have a 3.0 GPA; intend to pursue a  four-year degree; be enrolled in the science curriculum and intend to pursue a career in the science field.

Billiejoe Loeben Scholarship in Music/$1,500  
Academic Excellence in Music
X  Female student from Montgomery County; completed at least 12 credits; completed at least one course in music; 3.0 GPA or higher; submit a letter describing interest in music.

Blue Bell Rotary Scholarship/$2,000
Blue Bell Area Resident
$$  Student must reside in Blue Bell, Whitpain Township, or Lansdale; be 30 years old or older; seeking training due to career change or job loss.

Brendlinger Family Scholarship/$1,000
Education Major
$$ / X  Student must have completed at least 12 credits;  3.5 GPA or higher; taken at least one course at the Pottstown Campus; provide a letter of interest and need.

Brian S. Damms Memorial Scholarship/$700
G.E.D. Recipient
$$  Male student must have received a G.E.D. and be working and living independently of parents.
 
Bruce Gunsel Scholarship/$500
Norristown Area
Student must have completed at least 24 credits; good academic record; must have contributed to the school and/or community; must have graduated from Norristown High School or live in the Norristown area.

Carol F. Whitcomb Scholarship/$500
Female student 30 years old or older; Social Sciences or Humanities major; demonstrated academic ability.

Central Montgomery County Business & Professional Women’s Club
Scholarship/$1,500
Female student 25 years old or older; student must be in good academic standing and a Business major.

CMMC Volunteer Auxiliary Scholarship/$500
$$ Requires demonstrated financial need determined by the FAFSA application.  Student must be enrolled in one of the Allied Health Programs (degree or certificate), eg. Dental Hygiene, Radiography or Nursing.  Preference given to a resident of the North Penn area.

Commerce Bank Scholarship/$1,000
Business Major
Full-time student enrolled in a business or finance program; must have completed at least 24 credits; 3.2 GPA or higher.

Community Day Scholarship/$1,000 
$$ / X Student must be at least six (6) credits; 3.0 GPA or higher; have a strong record of community service.

Mr. and Mrs. D. Tom Genuardi Scholarship/$1,000 
$$ Student with strong commitment to their education; 3.0 GPA or higher.

David L. Chomitz Scholarship/$500
Business Major
$$ / X This scholarship is given in honor of the first chairperson of the Business Department. The recipient may be a  full or part-time student who has earned at least 12 credits; maintained at least a 3.0 GPA or higher.  A letter of recommendation is helpful.

Dental Hygiene Directors' Scholarship/$1,000
$$ / X Student must be accepted in the Dental Hygiene Program; provide letter of recommendations from the Program Director and/or the Dean of Health and Physical Education.

Distinguished Order of Zerocrats Scholarships/ $1,000
$$ / X Student must be enrolled in the Hospitality Management Program; be in good academic standing; provide a letter of recommendation from faculty.

Eastwood Atwater Scholarship/$250
Student must be Human Services Major; completed at least 15 credits; 2.0 GPA or higher.

Edwin Biagas Memorial Scholarship/$2,000
$$ Student must have 3.0 GPA or higher.
 
Emma Gebhardtsbauer Memorial Scholarship/$700
$$ Preference given to a full-time adult student returning to higher education with a 3.0 GPA or higher. A 300 word essay is required about a book that was recently read that changed your thinking. Scholarship funds may be used for books or tuition.

Employee Memorial Scholarship/$1,000  
$$ / X Student must have completed 24 credits; 3.5 GPA or higher; enrolled for 12 credits in Fall semester; provide a letter of recommendation from College employee.

English as a Second Language Scholarship/$1,000
ESL Students
$$  Student must have a first language other than English. Second-year students must have a good attendance record and a satisfactory academic record.

Fred and Rocky Barbone Memorial Scholarship/$500
Business Administration Major
X Student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher; completed at least 24 credits; be enrolled at least six (6) credits per semester; submit an essay; provide letter of recommendation from a faculty member.

Friends of North Penn Community Health Foundation/$2,000
$$ Students must be enrolled in one of the allied health programs (degree or certificate); e.g., Dental Hygiene, Radiography or Nursing.  Preference given to a resident of the North Penn area.

Gerald A. Cundiff/General Electric Elfun Society Scholarship/$1,000
Roosevelt High School Graduate

School and be recommended by Roosevelt High School administrators and teachers.

Gujarati Samaj of Delaware Valley Scholarship/$500

$$ Student should be of Indian heritage.

Hatfield Quality Meats Scholarship/$1,000
Business Administration or Hospitality Management Major
Student must demonstrate academic promise; have graduated from a high school in the North Penn or Souderton area or reside in that area.

Health Sciences Scholarship/$750
$$ Student must have completed at least 30 credit
hours at Montgomery County Community College; 2.5 GPA or higher in their program of study; have one of the following degree designations: NR, C.SR, DH, ML, PE, PE.FIT, RT, SR

Henry & Marian Brown Memorial Scholarship/$1,000
$$ Student who has completed at least the first semester of the New Choices/New Options program and who wishes to enroll for one or two College classes for credit in a given semester and must be a Montgomery County resident. Scholarship funds to be used for tuition and fees.

Horner Heritage Scholarship/$1,000
$$ Awarded to a child of Montgomery County Community College alum; 3.0 GPA or higher. Scholarship funds to be used for tuition and fees.

Indo-American Scholarship/$250
Indian Heritage
$$ Student should be of Indian heritage.

J. Michael Pokorny Memorial Scholarship/$1,000 
$$ Student must be from the Wissahickon School District; 3.0 GPA or higher.

Jean Macht Scholarship/$450
$$ Award based solely on need to a student who is enrolled at least half-time.

John Mastroni Memorial Scholarship/$500
$$ Award based solely on need to a student who is enrolled at least half-time.

Joseph David Prosser Memorial Scholarship/$2,000
$$ 2.5 GPA or higher; enrolled at least 12 credit hours. Five awards will be made.

Joseph David Prosser Memorial Scholarship for New Students/$2,000
$$ Students must be first-time students at Montgomery County Community College; enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits.

Joseph David Prosser Memorial Scholarship for Part-time Students/$1,000
$$ Students may be new or returning; enrolled for fewer than 12 credit hours; 2.5 GPA or higher.

Joy L. Kanter Memorial Scholarship for Tuition/$3,000

Non-English Speaking Students
Student must be a non native student speaking English as a second language and enrolled in an ESL or REA course.  If the student maintains at least a 3.0 GPA they will be awarded this scholarship for a second year. This scholarship may be awarded either to one full-time student or up to three part-time students and is to be used for tuition.  

Madison Bank Scholarship/$500
$$ Student must be in good academic standing; enrolled full-time or part-time.

Majorie F. Davis Memorial Scholarship/$1,000
Nursing Major preference
$$ / X Student may be majoring in any area- preference will be given to student planning to enroll in or already enrolled in the College’s Nursing Program. For the student preparing to enter the Nursing Program or majoring in another area, a 3.0 GPA or higher is required. For students already enrolled in the Nursing Program, a letter of recommendation from the Director of the Nursing Program is required.

Margaret Miller Scholarship in Nursing/$500
For a student enrolled in the Nursing Program.  First preference given to students who are graduates of either Lower Merion or Plymouth Whitemarsh High Schools.

Mitzi Love Perlstein Scholarship/$1,250
$$ Requires demonstrated financial need determined by the FAFSA application.

Montgomery County Association of Realtors Scholarship/$1,500
$$  Preference is given to students pursuing a full-time career in Real Estate. Student must be a Montgomery County resident. Scholarship funds to be used for tuition, fees, books, and supplies.

Motz Wealth Management and Prosperity Scholarship/$1,000
$$ Preference will be given to women students not entering directly from high school. The recipient should have a 3.0 GPA or higher; and be enrolled as a full time student.

 North Penn Art Scholarship/$500
$$ Student studying art toward an Associate in Fine Art Degree or a student enrolled in the AFA Program.  The student should have a demonstrated financial need.

Peter M. Duffy Memorial Scholarship/$1,000  
X  This scholarship benefits a child or grandchild of a Montgomery County Firefighter who is enrolled or preparing to enroll at Montgomery County Community College with a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher.  An essay is required.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship/$500
$$ / X Student must be Phi Theta Kappa member; excellent record of community service.

Pottstown Industrial Complex Scholarship/$1,000-1,500
$$  Student must be resident of the greater Pottstown area; enrolled full-time; may be a new student to the College.

President's Scholarship/$1,000 
X Student with 3.75 GPA or higher; history of leadership; history of community service.

Rotelle Family Scholarships/$1,000
$$ / X Student must be enrolled in the Hospitality Management Program; be in good academic standing; provide a letter of recommendation from faculty.

Round the Town Scholarship/up to $ 2,500
Pottstown Area Residents
X  Full-time student; good academic record; provide a letter of recommendation; must have participated in school and community activities; be a resident of Pottstown, Upper
Pottsgrove, West Pottsgrove, Lower Pottsgrove, or North Coventry. For scholarship renewal, students must have successfully completed at least 12 credits each semester. Maximum scholarship is two years.  Scholarship will pay up to $1,250 per semester for tuition and fees.

Souderton/Telford Business and Professional Women's Club Scholarship/$1,000
$$ Student must be resident of Souderton, Telford, Harleysville, or Franconia; a single female 25 years of age or older; completed at least 24 credits; good academic record; majoring in Business.

Suburban West Realtor’s Association Scholarship/$2,300
$$ Student must be a Montgomery County resident;  3.0 GPA or higher;  Students with parents or guardians who are realtors will not be eligible to receive this scholarship.
Scholarship funds to be used for tuition only.

Technology in Action Scholarship/$1,500
$$ / X  Student must have completed the CIS110 course with an A; participated in community service.

Temple Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship/$1,000
Nursing major
$$ / X  Student enrolled in Nursing Program; 3.0 GPA or higher; a letter of recommendation from the Director of the Nursing Program that attests to the suitability of the student for a career in nursing.

Tornambe Family Scholarship/$1,000
Nursing major
$$ Student must have been accepted into the Nursing Program (NR only); 3.0 GPA or higher; recipient must be a single mother.

Trustee Award/$1,000
3.0 GPA or higher; excellent scholastic record in high school; enrolled in degree-seeking program.  Preference is given to full-time students.

Univest Scholarship/$1,000
Business or Finance Major
$$ Student must have completed 12 credits; 3.0 GPA or higher; preferably from the Souderton, Telford, Harleysville area.

Wachovia Bank Scholarship/$800
Business or Finance Major
$$  Student must be  enrolled in a business or finance program; completed at least 12 credits; 3.0 GPA or higher.

West Campus Scholarship/$500 
$$ / X Student must be currently enrolled at the West Campus of Montgomery County Community College; good academic standing (above 2.0 GPA); completed 12 or more credits; provide a description of service to the community; provide involvement at Montgomery County Community College; provide a letter of recommendation from a member of the West Campus faculty, staff or administration.

William E. Strasburg Scholarship/$500
For Writers
X Student must provide writing samples; have excellent writing skills; demonstrated service to the community.

William F. Speier III Memorial Scholarship/$500  
Accounting Major
X Student must be registered for at least 9 credits for the Fall Semester; have demonstrated academic competence; community service.

Williamson's Scholarship/$1,000
Hospitality Management Major
Student must be enrolled in the Hospitality Management Program; be in good academic standing.
