MCCC Enters Into Leisure and Sports Studies Agreement with Kutztown University
May 5, 2008, Blue Bell/Pottstown, Pa.—Montgomery County Community College, with campuses in Blue Bell and Pottstown, Pa., is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Kutztown University for graduates in the program of Health and Fitness Professional. Under the agreement, MCCC students who graduate with an Associate in Applied Science degree in the Health and Fitness Professional program will be admitted into the Bachelor of Science in Leisure and Sports Studies degree at Kutztown University.
“Every agreement we have with a baccalaureate-granting institution is important because it validates our mission and the excellence of our faculty,” said Dr. Karen Stout, President of Montgomery County Community College. “Our growing Health and Fitness Professional program provides a comprehensive curriculum and educational experience that prepares students for careers in a variety of health and fitness areas. By entering into this agreement with Kutztown University, our students have access to an excellent option whereby they can continue to pursue their career and educational goals.”
“We work hard to insure our students have opportunities for success—whether they come to us with a goal of transfer, or they come to us with a goal of getting an associate’s degree and going right into a career,” Dr. Stout continued. “Sixty percent of our students enter the College each year with a goal of transfer, and Kutztown University is one of our students’ top transfer destinations.”
The Leisure and Sports Studies agreement builds on the dual admissions and core-to-core partnership between Montgomery County Community College and Kutztown University. The partnership, which enables students who graduate from MCCC with an Associate in Arts degree or an Associate in Science degree and a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 to enter KU with junior (third year) status. The two schools also have a program-to-program agreement between MCCC’s Communication program and KU’s Electronic Media program.
“We are pleased to expand our relationship with Montgomery County Community College.” said Kutztown University President Dr. F. Javier Cevallos. “This agreement will certainly build on our already successful core-to-core agreement, while creating more options for area students seeking a four-year degree in Leisure and Sports Studies.”
