Lively Arts Series 2008-2009

As many of you have taken this journey with us through some entertaining, challenging, moving, and inspiring programs we ask you to meet us once again at culture’s common ground. Montgomery County has been described as a crossroads and we want our campus to be a destination for experiencing great arts and culture up close and personal. This year, through the support of the National Endowment for the Arts American Masterpieces initiative, we will present performances that celebrate the diversity of the artistic genius America has produced including America’s great cultural ambassador to the world … jazz, with performances by the legendary pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Christian McBride, and newcomer, drummer Matt Wilson with his tribute to poet Carl Sandburg. As a part of this program we will also re-visit Harper Lee’s immortal masterpiece “To Kill a Mockingbird”. In turn, the world will meet us here as we host a special presentation by Beijing/DanceLDTX Company from China and Indian dance company Ragamala. So come to the crossroads of culture and let’s meet on common ground!
