On Both Feet! All of your instructors will distribute a syllabus the first day of class. Do not miss the first day of class! Your syllabus is your 'contract' between you and your instructor. It gives you all the course's requirements and expectations including attendance policies, testing procedures, textbook requirements, and more! It is your responsibility to review and become familiar with the course syllabus.
Your instructors are people too. Communicating with your instructors is very important. If an emergency prevents you from attending class you must contact your instructor. Contact information will be found on the course syllabus. Always leave a message or contact the division office to inform your instructor about what is happening. You should be prepared to have documentation for your reason of non-attendance, especially if there are strict attendance policies in your classroom.
You may also need to speak with your instructor about your progress within the class. Again, refer to your syllabus for your instructor's office hours or speak with them before or after your class time.
